How long does the donation process take?
The entire journey from donation to completion typically takes about 30 to 45 days. We coordinate with medical institutions to ensure timely processing.
What happens to the body after donation?
After medical training, the body is cremated at our facility in accordance with North Carolina cremation laws. The family has the choice of having the urn returned to them at no cost, or we can scatter at sea near the coast of North Carolina.
Are there any costs involved?
There is no cost to the family. Transportation, cremation and returning the urn is completely free of charge. If needed, we can provide you with a zero balance disposition letter to satisfy probate court. Our program is dedicated to providing anatomical gifts for medical research and training institutions without any cost to the donors family.
Where do I get a Death Certificate?
We will file the death certificate for you at no charge. Instructions will be given where the certified copies can be ordered.
Do I need to register early?
No. It is important to talk to your family about your end-of-life wishes. When the time comes, your immediate next of kin will have the responsibility of handling your disposition. They can complete the donor form after the time of death.
